2nd clearance interview
« on: Dec 22, 2013, 10:52 »
I am currently in the investigation process for a security clearance with Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. I filled out my eQIP back in July/August and had my interview with OPM shortly afterwards. Since then I've just been waiting. Now, I have a call from the company saying the government wants to schedule an interview. So far no one has told me which agency is doing this or the reason/topic to be discussed. Anybody know if this is at all normal and who I could contact to determine the agency and reason?  How long does it usually take after this before you hear back regarding the clearance? Thank you in advance.

The reason for the second interview could be as simple as former neighbors have moved and the OPM can't verify an old address. I saw one person have to get a second because his ex-wife refused the OPM an interview.

As for length of time it just depends, I've seen people get Q's in six months to one person took 18 months to get a L reinstated

Thank you for your quick reply, the company told me this is normal procedure. The first interview was at a public library for this one they want me to be on-site.

Just to add to my previous comment, the letter states it is an interview with NRLFO (Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office Security and Safeguards Division) if that helps in any way.
