Determining Nuclear Rate. New Question?
« on: Oct 13, 2014, 07:43 »
Now, if this has been posted before, just tell me and I will remove the post and keep searching. So I have been looking for this and cannot figure it out.

Most people say either rate is determined by needs of the navy, how you did on your ASVAB/NFQT.

We won't know for sure which determines it, but theoretically lets say it is based on ASVAB scores.

Which line scores would apply to which rate? (EM ET MM) Just in your personal opinion.

I am just trying to decide which rate I would be chosen for if it was indeed decided by ASVAB score.

Thanks for any answers. RTC in December....

I do not know what the determination is on but when I was in I think it was based on need.  I aced the tests when given at the recruiters; and then when I retook them in Boot Camp after going on only 4 hours sleep in about 48 hours I did miss two questions and even with those scores I was sent to EM when I wanted ET.

But don't despair if that happens to you - I was able to request a transfer about half way through EM school to ET school and get it.  Of course you should be doing very well in whatever school they put you in if you want them to consider that sort of request.  Still it is possible.
