If by holy grail you mean best paid outside of management, then yes. If you mean decent work/life balance then to that I say, "Ha" and "no."

Fast approaching 31 yrs. all at commercial plants, most of the time at power, although now at one of the current climate premature shutdown victims, my biased opinion would be that RP would be the skill coveting the sacred chalice. Contemplating throwing in the great ELT debate as the Navy skill obviously the worthy ones to stand at the ready guarding the anointed vessel, I determined that the holiday season would not be the time for it, and it may be bludgeoned by the off-topic gang. Merry Christmas to all, and remember - it really does matter, how radiation interacts with matter.  MM2/ELT USS NIMITZ 1980-1984. BOHICA.

I don't think you've hung out with too many operators.  They eat more than anyone I know, especially doughnuts!

The partially hydrogenated oils in the doughnuts promote growth of the subcutaneous fatty layer of the skin, which helps to reduce dose from gammas and fast neutrons. Just part of the job ;)  [nuke]
