Pay Rates
« on: May 17, 2002, 05:53 »
A friend is going to court to seek damages in a medical lawsuit.  The lawyer needs a good formal poll on the wages around the country.  Please reply here, or in a private email to me the pay rates that you know of, and the part of the country that that rate is in.

Any help is appreciated, and I will keep your identities anon.

Well, for the lawyer I need HP rates, however, I personally would like to see rate for all job descriptions.  That way everyone can see what different trades are making.

Please note HP types, I need DOE, DOD, and Other site rates as well as power plant rates.  I need House rates as well as contract rates.  (I have a very good idea what contract HP rates at power plants are, I have them posted in the outage section).

Hi Mike,

The pay rates for electrician at Seabrook were $23.50 plus $65 a day P.D.  At D.C. Cook it was $22.50 plus $480 a week P.D. It depends on who has the contract.

DOE @ Fernald $18.00 no Per Diem.
DOE @ SRS $18.00 to $24 no Per Diem.
Both require RCT Core exam and 40 hour Hazmat and ANSI 3.1 HP.

private party D&D, remediations, etc...
Lead HP = $US23-34
HP = $US10-22; not always a job title difference between Jr/Sr
PD = what the market will bear ( read, what the client will go for, many times extra perks like direct billing of motel, travel in/out per week, daily commute travel, inner city parking, etc are paid, especially if PD is not.)

Mike,

I'm at Argonne National Lab in IL, pay for Sr. H.P.Techs is $19.96 to $22.34 depending on which step they hire you in at.  No per diem but full benefits and vacation/holidays.  You always get at least a week off during Christmas New Years(place shuts down).  Tech I, II & III of course are lower, entry is $12.42.  Overtime varies but I get all I want.

Thankyou everyone!  This info is GREAT!

Especially Jumper, for the non-HP info!  Anyother Non-HP's out there, please feel free to post rates here, or to email them to me.  I would REALLY appreciate it.

18.00-19.00 for riggers?  man...those union boilermakers and ironworkers are making out like bandits...in illinois here they average 36.00-48.00 with full benefits...including like 10.00 per hour into retirement.

:o hmmmm what kinda lawyer is this guy.  any good lawyer knows that pay rates are readily found based on SIC codes and can get those from the companies themselves.  posting on this board is really hearsay.. in  a court of law. so i would beware of that type of legal aid.  besides pays nationally run from $20 to 35.00  its the same everywhere. utilities work to make pay rates standard to avoid disparity.  one factor that isnt often applied is the tax base. getting quotes for around the country and not adding in the tax base is not really a good idea of pay rates at all.  $20 in a non taxed state is equal to $30 in some place like connecticut.

excuse me!!! but the tax rate in ct is not 50% so don't go scaring people away from ct. However you do have a point. You have to take into consideration what the tax rate is in each state, what is the standard deduction, and what expenses can be itemized. Mass, Mich, Wisc, NY, Ohio (local tax also), Maryland, NJ & Maine are the highest tax states that I have worked.  :'(
