It seems I've been reading this sort of article almost all my life. Someone has always been promoting the advantages of fission, solar, geothermal, fusion, etc. Fusion in particular has been touted as our energy panacea for decades and yet . . . it still don't work other than as an experimental curiosity or as the subject of some late-night talk show. And, should it work, wouldn't fusion be considered a "renewable" since we make plenty of waste to fuel such a plant.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the whole fusion world will rely on some limited quantity of some exotic material to make it work thus negating the potential for relatively cheap and unlimited energy.
