The license for operation of Yucca and the interim above or below ground interim storage at the facility would be of huge benefit to the entire commercial industry.  However, has the issue, created by the former Senator Harry Reid, of access to Yucca, either over-the-road or by rail been considered and discussed.  Since the main line for rail is nearly 100 miles from the Yucca site and the current highway access to the area is owned by the state of Nevada and has been a huge point of control, how would the waste get to the site?  Mr. Reid had stated that there was no way that the State of Nevada would ever agree to allow nuclear waste to be shipped into the state.  This has been a point of conjecture ever since the late 1980's so how would this be resolved now?

Harry Reid is gone.

...but his minions are not.

Quote
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid will get his wish and be replaced by a Democrat — former state attorney general Catherine Cortez Masto — when he leaves Congress in January.

She will be the first Latina senator.

It was a close fight between Cortez Masto and Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), something like an “undercard boxing match,” as both candidates kept their focus on the noise coming from the general election, Paul Kane wrote in The Post.

Cortez Masto received the backing of Reid, and support from President Obama, Vice President Biden, first lady Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. Obama lauded her work as a prosecutor, working across party lines and with law enforcement. She pointed to key issues as immigration legislation, raising the minimum wage and pay equity for female workers.
