fossil fuel industry has less regulation and therefore pays way less money to operate, unlike nuclear which is held to a higher unfair standard.  this is just one example.  if this was a nationwide "fission gas" leak of 13 million metric tons per year, what do you think the blow back would be?

this is in effect a type of soft subsidy for fossil fuels.  and it is probably worth billions IMHO.  nuclear power has never looked better when you take this kind of thing into account, now if the rest of the world besides China and France would notice.  so China is the smart one here lately?  SMH

The devastation, loss of life, and subsequent health issues inflicted on mankind by 2 nuclear bombs was staggering. Many took notice. The damage inflicted by several thousand relatively small accidents (pipeline leaks, fires, explosions), (houses/building explosions), (asphyxiations), etc. aren't dramatic enough to get much attention. When you add it all up, does it equal or exceed the nuclear toll? It doesn't leave the radioactive contamination that can be measured, but it leaves immeasurable contamination of a different kind. I guess you have to be really really big to get attention.

Why didn't they notice that firebombing of Japanese cities killed a lot more? Firebombing and fossil fuels have about as much in common with each other as Nuclear Power and Nuclear weapons.

I understand the "WOW" factor for firebombing wasn't even close to the A-Bombs (and I'm sure the Government wasn't very forthcoming with releasing information saying they were burning whole cities of civilians alive) but I don't understand how the devastation of the A-Bombs can be attributed to Commercial Nuclear Power.

google tokyp firebombing or dresden firestorm and scroll through the video returns,....

actually the allied governments seem to have been bluntly forthcoming about the tactic,...

the Soviets viewed it as fair turnaround for the butchery, genocide and rape of Russia,...

and the Western Allies were pert much okay with anything that reduced losses to allied combatants at the hands of suicidal fanatics who refused to cry uncle when all chance of gaining victory, or suing for a settled peace, were nil,....

been there, dun that,... the doormat to hell does not read "welcome", the doormat to hell reads "it's just business"
