yep, this is the alternate reality we find ourselves in,....

I can foresee a day when certain Americans will be registered as "essential workers/people" with the prerequisite ID (aka traveling papers),...

That day is here. I carry papers stating Essential Worker status within Homeland Security venue as a nuclear power plant worker.

I've seen those, but they seem a little thin without a barcode on them,...

it's the barcode mark that gives things that aura of legitimacy,...

man!!!, some days I really miss Dave around here,....

Dave could run with that "mark" segue for a full 17 or 18 posts,... O:)

Regarding the plant of which this post related;

Re: coronavirus

this outage is virtually over, Mode 3 to be achieved at the time of this writing.
The COVID19 tabulation is:
1 confirmed case, under treatment, a utility employee.

Did the steps taken as reported help this achievement?
I think so. Not only was the COVID19 not a factor, very few illness, not even Outage Crud, were noticed by the working population.

How'd your outage go?

Back in 2014 the headlines read: Tennessee tops America's 10 worst states to live in
Then in 2018: Health Care and Crime & Correction were 43rd in the country. 35% college educated and median income is $28,764.

Not sure what that has to do with an increase in suicides during the pandemic, one of the predicted outcomes of closing the economy.

quick update:

Yahoo News/YouGov poll: Most Americans deny Trump virus response is a 'success' — nearly half say Obama would be doing better

https://news.yahoo.com/yahoo-news-you-gov-poll-most-americans-deny-trump-virus-response-is-a-success-nearly-half-say-obama-would-be-doing-better-134316999.html

perspective:

Swine Flu Timeline 2009

April 27, 2009 - the European Union health commissioner advised Europeans to postpone nonessential travel to the United States or Mexico,…

8 days later,...

May 5, 2009 - first death of US Citizen on US soil

121 days later,...

September 3, 2009 - 9,079 total number of US citizens hospitalized to date

51 days later,...

October 24, 2009 President Obama declared swine flu a national emergency

12,000 americans died from swine flu with a USA mortality rate of 0.02%,...

compared to COVID's USA mortality rate of 6.0% (as per John Hopkins on 05/06/2020) that would mean 3.6 million deaths if this was Obama's timeline and Obama's action plan,..

simple math,...

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

thankfully for the politicos, most americans cannot do simple math anymore,...

we're pretty dam satisfactory on this one all things considered,...

Polarization.  Please stop with the opinion pieces.

Probably should have just looked for the video and not posted the article. I posted for the humor mainly.

All things considered, it would be almost impossible for me to believe that an operational nuclear plant would head into an outage, under the current siege, with no plan in place to: protect the health and safety of the public, protect the health and safety of the workforce, safely perform required refueling and maintenance activities, and safely restart the plant. All in as efficient a manner as reasonably achievable. Its what they do.
