Seems like it is a little narrow to claim any benefit. Most fuel failures I am familiar with had to do with erosion, cyclic stress (heavy vibration due to flow), and galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals. Radiation fatigue I thought was primarily due to neutron embrittlement in the vessel. Corrosion rate due to radiation is new to me and is proton radiation a good surrogate for gamma and neutron. Playing devils advocate for the sake of discussion, after all what do I know I am not a MIT grad.
