Neutron Activation in ISFSI Components
« on: Oct 20, 2022, 09:38 »
Anyone actually seen this? If so, which components ended up being activated?

We are starting repairs on the externals of our casks. The best study I have been able to find is: https://www.mdpi.com/1996-1073/13/20/5325/htm

It seems to support our belief that we will not see activation on any externals, including lid, however, we are performing sampling prior to grinding.

We are expecting activation of cask internals, but unsure as to how high up. Has anyone had their lid off? Did you see any activation of lid? Shield ring?

Thanks for any help!
We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner! I can’t think what anybody sees in them.      - B. Baggins
