The contract they were offering read more like one for craft not Rad Techs. A requirement that the tech would not have to provide his own tools stuck out to me. I did participate in a one-day walkout at Point Beach with the aim of getting publicity for the movement. The Oil, Chemical and Atomic workers tried to organize rad techs in the 70s. They estimated there were 700 nationwide. At my first outage out of the Navy at VY is when TMI happened, and they were looking for 300 rad techs. Can you say creative resumes?
Mixed feelings about unions. Did not like working with the union house techs at Zion but at Trojan I did not even know that they were unionized for a month. A bit of a disclaimer my BossLady is in a union at Y-12, the Rad Techs are mixed in with craft.
