Doris O'Beirne (Nicosia)
« on: Apr 03, 2006, 07:51 »
I was informed last night that former HP Tech Doris (O'Beirne) Nicosia passed away yesterday , April 2, 2006 at about 3pm in the hospital near Tampa, Fla. She has been struggling for the past year with cancer. I met her at Surry in 1984, she has worked many plant's, but I believe mainly in the South. I don't have any details about services or a memorial at this time, but will post if I receive that information. She was a Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother, and will be mourned by all she knew. The last I spoke with her was last weekend, & she spoke of how she has missed seeing all her friends on the road...

May God grant her peace from her long struggle.

Doris lead a hard life, but always had a kind word for everyone. She had a rough time with cancer for the second time. I'm going to miss talking to her, but I know God met her at his door.

Sorry to hear of Doris' passing. I worked with her years ago at Turkey Point ('88) and didn't see her again until 2000 at Hatch.

Condolences to all her Family and friends.

Geesh, what do you say? She was one of the first women I met on the road, we used to call her Torus Doris, that was along time ago at Millstone unit 1, back in the late 80's, we gave her chance, and she said NO thats a boys thing with that hydrolaser, hey we kicked butt, we coundn't have done it with out her, she played that hydrolaser like a fiddle..

I'am so sorry I never got the chance to work with her again after that. I hope she taught many,, truely a great woman''

I'm sorry it has been such a break before posting any other information. Her Daughters had to get to Fla for arrangements to be made & have encountered some difficulties. As best I understand they are trying for a memorial service at Bell Shoals Baptist Church for Friday or Sat. Details had not all been ironed out as of last night. Anyone that wants her daughter's contact info can mail/message me here & I will get it to them. I feel it would be appropriate for donations to be sent in her name to the Breast Cancer Fund, or any other non-profit cancer awareness program.  Tom Selman
