Control room divorce rate

NucEng for Hire:
Is it really higher than the national average? If so, any opinions as to why, beyond what might be the obvious factors of shift work, outage time, and bringing job stress home with you?

Fermi2:
Not in my experience. Usually by the time one reaches the Control Room and assuming they were married when they were an NLO they've spent around 10 to 15 years in the industry already and their wives know what it's like to live with a nuke.

I was on 4 different shifts as a Licensed Operator at my old plant

1: All Control Room Operators were married, one had been divorced right after he got out of the Navy and was happily remarried.

2: Same deal, the operator who had been divorced was the same guy as in case 1.

3: Seven ROs and SROs, all happily married. One had been divorced but this was long before he was in Operations.

4: All happily married. One had been divorced when he was a Non Licensed Operator 16 years before.

In my experience, it is not nearly as high as Navy subs.
(That is a painfully small compliment)

My boat was a regulat Peyton Place. We had one guy who would get paid in advance. The who mission he'd be talking about what a wonderful angel his wife was. We'd get home, his furniture would be gone, she'd be shacking up with another squid and he'd have no money.

He'd mope for about a month, then they'd get back together and he'd be talking about what a rare angel she was. We'd go to sea again and presto...
