I'm trying to get some info on Nine Mile and Constellation energy.  I've dropped a resume to them for a SRO job, I would appreciate any insight.

How's the outage going?  No posts about Nine Mile since 2006?  What's up with that?

So far I would have to say that the outage is going pretty well.  I have do not have any complaints about the house techs or supervision.  I would love to come here again if the outage was longer.  Getting only 2 weeks of 12's sucks.  In my opinion it is not worth putting up with the cold and the snow.  Being from South Carolina, I would much prefer the 50's and 70's temps.  I have been working the refuel floor which is a totally new experience for me.  The house techs and supervision have been very patient with my questions and lack of knowledge in this area.  I like the plant but would only return for 4 weak-er or longer.  18 days is just too darn short.

Any Nine Mile house people reading this topic, please provide me with any housing info (i.e., apartments, condos, or such with short-term leasing options (<6 months).  Please no flea bags, thanks.

Which of these plants, if any, are close to where you live right now?

Have you had any luck so far???  On July 30th thru August 3rd Entergy (Fitzpatrick plant) had a job posting for 3 nuclear security guards.  From what I have been told by some people who work there they actually need many more than that.  But one of the people I know that works there told me yesterday that there has been a freeze on hiring due to the economic times...I guess it came down from corporate.  Also, I got an email from entergy basically saying that they are not continuing the hiring process...whether it is because of the reason I just stated or because I did not make the cut, I do not know.  I too am prior military and have a pistol permit so I can't imagine I would not be asked to atleast an interview.  Let me know if you happen to get any info.  By the way do you live in Oswego? I'm living in Central Square.

I'm still waiting to hear back from my one friend that works security at the Fitzpatrick plant (entergy). Hopefully she can give me some insight as to what the heck is going on...I can't imagine they would put a freeze on hiring new security guards if they need them...I believe she told me that the new NRC regulations call for more guards per shift and it is supposed to be in place by September, atleast thats what she told me a few months ago when they were hiring  a bunch more new people.  But do to people moving into management positions and 3 people that didn't get through the training she said they probably need to add atleast 10 to 14...but those number may come from there pool of people they had apply the last time.  I'll definately post something here if she gets back 2 me.

They could have only needed 3 applicants from "outside" the rest could have been filled by "in house" applicants. A lot of "in house" employees leave security for maintenance, only to find out they were better off in as a NSO. If I am not mistaken I have heard about the new NRC regs. If Entergy put a hold on the openings it must be something that corp. is calling for. Good Luck and if I hear anything I will post.

my friend I know that works security at the Entergy plant email me yesterday saying that there isn't a "hiring freeze" persay, but it sounds like they are pulling people from the previous list of applicants.  So I'm not sure what is going on there.

Anyone one know how I can get into contact with human resources or a hiring manager at Nine Mile Point in Oswego, NY.  I applied for an Nuclear Security Officer job there and I know they have been interviewing people for the positions.  I wrote 2 emails to the HR at the Corp. HQ about a problem I had with the application process but they never even responded.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I was in the Army for 5 years (infantry), I have a pistol permit and drivers license so I just can't see a reason why they would not want to atleast interview me.
