VY just applied for Extended Power Uprate and a License Extension. They aren't shutting down any time soon.

Nice area and good people at the plant. Though the Diem is a bit low for what you have to pay for lodging in the area.

Well there's still food stamps, you can't get enough time in to get unemployment.  Maybe get free govt. housing at the sites for the 12 day outages.

Just think if you can stack up 3 outages for the fall and 3 for the spring you can work 2 or maybe even 3 months a year. 

What a great idea they have to cut pay, that will help supply the outages with the techs they need.

I applied to 2 of those jobs at least a month ago and I check my status at the website it says.  050-route......What exactly does that mean?

They only stay listed for 2 weeks. If you missed the window, try the phone number in the posting, and maybe there is another way to get the resume in.

Don't know how Entergy is acting now, but I sent resume at Grand Gulf, Had phone discussion, went to interview while workingas contractor at ANO. THEN I got a 'form" postcard to my home address saying thanks for resume , but no positions available, Dated for the day before I actually did the interveiw. Never did figure that one out. Never got a thanks for interveiw, but.....had to talk to others to find out if the positions ever got filled.

OK folks, the hiring freeze seems to be over for now - Entergy just reopened postings for  Electricians, and RP Techs on their website www.entergy.com
I&C tech posting is supposed to be coming soon.

They also (like Pittsburgh) need a guide for furiners to learn the language. I can't tell you how many times I heard this exact sentence. " I prolly got suhnin I otta tell ya." And you don't ever say the t in Vermont. And words that end in a vowel all have an r added to the end and words that end in consonants often have the last consonant dropped. Just my left coast observations.

Mc Neill's Brewery's  at 90 Elliot St has their on beers (I think some 30 different flavors) and provides sandwiches.  Excellent beer and atmosphere.

I keep seeing the power increase in the news.

What a PR nightmare; who would declare, "We are at 115% power and holding"? Do they not realize how this sounds to people that got their nuclear power information from Fonda (or else stayed at a Holiday Inn Express).

Why not declare what the new power limit is, then explain that they are at 83% of rated power, which was the old power limit.

 The Techs are great.The area is also.The only plant I would go house in again.The general public are VERY anti-nuke.Brattleboro is a fun little town, just watch out for the alternative life stylers.

I was there again for the last faalls outage.  Still a nice place to work but it will never be the same without the Rodent, Remy, or Guido!
