I see that Numanco is trying to fill the Farley outage.  I hope that they manage to fill it.  It seems sort of late to still be advertising for positions to be filled 3-24.

Why do they need HPs at Farley, they don't have a health physics program. Sure enough you can come off some more cash but it don't make up for treating people like crap. Yes once is enough for me. It's just another one of those plants that shows up only once on your resume.

Been there.
Didn't stay long.
Dry county.
Had to go to Florida for the good stuff.
Overall.....not on my top 10 list but bearable in a pinch.

Did anyone hear about layoffs at Farley? I heard about 60 people, about 5 HPs got it.

4 HP's gone.  One of them exempt level.  Other 3 were techs.  layoffs in all groups.  Still to come will be the union covered jobs.  About the same number to be cut from shops.  Fun times

I spent a week there in'90.  The locals did not like this long hair
from the north to say the least.  Couldn't find a place to live, couldn't get served
in resturants.  Luckily, Bartlett called with a better offer elsewhere and I bid farewell to PSESI, Dothan, and Farley.

If you go to Farley, go to take the money. The house people there are the extreme religious right. They will stick a knife in your back with a smile because God is on their side. Many people wear blatantley bias religious tshirts. Do not make fun of them or you will be gone. They have many local people getting diem, lying about their address. The site people let this happen. Dthan is a cool place, however. It is trying to become a modern city without the bigots. If you can go there for only the cash, you will do ok.

Spent alot of time at farley. never been treated better. Dothan is a great town with lots of stuff to do. The gulf is a little over an hour away.

If you get a chance to go to Panama City... down on Thomas Drive is J Michaels.  It is on the waterfront at the marina before the Treasure Ship.  Go try the Shrimp J Michaels with a cold brew... yummy

I wouldn't say Farley is a great site, but as a Jr the pay isn't to bad.  No where near as low as working in the Duke System.  Only problem I have is that all I do is sit control point and count air samples, but alot of sites are doing that now.

fueldryer,  come on down.  Looking forward to having you here

I hope you enjoy the outage at Farley. Lots of southerners here-- we are in lower Alabama after all.   I suspect that you will find some people that you like and maybe even one or two that you don't .  In that respect I bet we are like every other plant in the country.   

Within a couple of hours is the beach.  It makes a nice off day get a way. 

Hopefully after the outage you can give a good recomendation teh next time someone asks.

Thanks for the info.My employer always sets up lodging for us.I don't know that I'll have any time off(usually don't)but I will check out the area when I can.Thanks again.

..$$ is the only reason to go to an outage...Let it ride....why else would you leave home, work 12 hours with people you dont know, and dont care about;...I was a house tech at Farley in the 80's, I am sure it has changed many times, the house techs at Farley are by far the most intelligent bunch I have ever worked with, most are ex-navy, or degreed,some are ex- RAT's that were working this business when you were still eating with a spoon, I know Rick Gordie was there when they pulled the rods on the sun, they are all trained in all aspects of Radiation Protection...you seem to forget you are in the Bible belt, explain what you mean about getting fired for talking about a shirt, with a Christian logo..I suspect there was more to it than that..most of you seem to be biased, or prejudiced about the south, and southern plants...stay the heck out then..I read a bumper sticker a long time ago...it said..."WEDONTCAREHOWYOUDOITUPNORTH"..AND WE STILL DONT....so dont whine about the money, the southern drawl, the Christians, the house techs...they didnt twist your arm and make you go there.....and you know what else, they could care less if you come back....I always heard if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all..and thats all I have to say..what about it Spanky?...Red

I worked with gordie when we wuz both rent a techs at farley.. (farnsworth, martin mitchell, beverly prince and the rest) Gordie, he's aged.. whats up with that
