PDA Rad Pro Software Beta
« on: Dec 19, 2006, 03:14 »
I have finished Rad Pro Calculator version 1.0 for Pocket PC 2003 and Rad Pro Convert 1.0 for Smartphone.  They are both working in the developer environment, but I don’t have a PDA to test them on.  If these deployments work, all who beta tests them will be the first to have a working version of the software.  Anyone who wishes to beta test the deployments and get back to me (did it install and did it work?) feel free to download the files and deploy them on your PDAs.

Rad Pro Calculator for Pocket PC 2003:

System requirements:

Windows Pocket PC 2003 or greater O/S
Compact .NET Framework version 2.0
350 K RAM (system EPROM)

Download installation cab file: http://www.radprocalculator.com/files/RadProCalculatorPocket.CAB

To deploy, hook up the PDA to your desktop and use ActiveSync to transfer the cab file to you PDA.  Find the cab on your PDA and click it with the stylus.  It should auto-deploy.  A shortcut should appear under the Start button to start the program.  Includes unit conversions, decay and half-life calculations.

Rad Pro Convert for Smartphone:

System requirements:

Windows Mobile 5.0 or greater O/S
Compact .NET Framework version 2.0
200 K RAM (system EPROM)

Download installation cab file: http://www.radprocalculator.com/files/RadProConvertSmartPhone.CAB

To deploy, hook up the phone to your desktop and use ActiveSync to transfer the cab file to you phone.  Find the cab on your PDA and select it and hit the enter button.  It should auto-deploy.  A shortcut should appear under the Start button to start the program.  Includes unit conversions only.  There are not enough GUI tools or phone buttons to do the other calculators.  On this one, the * key is the decimal point key.  The # key is the E- key.  I had to choose between E+ and E-.  I chose E- for the # key.

If you need the Compact .NET Framework 2.0, get it here: http://www.radprocalculator.com/files/NETCFSetupv2.zip

It installs from your desktop computer and works for both the Pocket PC 2003 and Smartphone.  Download it to your desktop or laptop.  Hook up your PDA through ActiveSync.  Double click the MSI file and it auto-deploys to your PDA.  It requires 8 MEG of available RAM (system EPROM).

Please let me know how this works for you through http://www.radprocalculator.com/Request.aspx
