Title: Operation Grapple
Post by: Rain Man on Mar 09, 2006, 05:35
I haven't posted on the site for sometime due to being assigned to the Christmas Island legacy cleanup.  Below are some links to Operation Grapple:

There is absolutely no residual radioactive material from the tests most of which were conducted at high altitudes and many miles off the east end of the atoll.  The clean up consisits of scrap metal recovery, battery, bitumen, and asbestos clean up, and recovery and disposal of assorted radium dials from vehicles.  I have many pix of the island, staff, and the clean up and hopefully will get to post some soon.
