Title: Currency tracking software functionality question
Post by: Zircaloy on Mar 15, 2015, 02:21
I'm part of a team developing an app/website service to track currency. Specifically, we're creating a tool that will allow a user to view the status of, and add currency-affecting events to, currencies of the type "completed x tasks|y number of tasks|z [unit of time] of a task, within the last v [unit of time]". For example: in aviation, a pilot must have completed three takeoffs and landings within the last 90 days, and have gotten a medical certificate within the last 6, 12, 24, or 60 calendar months.

We're looking to make this tool useful to people in as many different industries as possible, and the nuclear industry, being both highly regulated and safety-conscious, seems like a good candidate for it. We're wondering, then: what sorts of currencies would this tool be useful in tracking? What types of functionality would you find handy? (One thing we will be implementing is a permission system, such that, for instance, an employee's currency status would be viewable by his/her manager. The different versions of the tool (app, website, etc.) will be interconnected as well, such that, for example, a currency-affecting event entered on the website will affect the currency status viewable on the app.) And do apps/websites used in the industry have to get certified as safe/correct before being used? If so, any ideas on how we'd go about doing so?

Thanks in advance for your time.
