Title: Wide View
Post by: Rennhack on Aug 09, 2004, 07:00
I made some more changes.  I also reset everyone to the NEW default.

There is now:

Nornal View - What we used to use.
Ultra Wide View - What you are probably looking at now.  ;)

To change your theme settings:
Click on [profile] (http://www.nukeworker.com/forum/index.php?action=profile)
Click on [Look and Layout Preferences] (http://www.nukeworker.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;sa=theme)
Then on: [Current Theme: Normal View (change)]  <-- click on change.

As usual, comments are welcome.  I prefer wide view myself.  But I'm used to normal view.

Looks good and is easier to read... but I worry about you and all the spare time you seem to have on your hands.

Green is for people that have donated, and red is for "Staff" members.

Well, I'm trying to speed up the front page.  It is loading too slow.  I'm trying to figure out a way to speed it up.

We can still look at who's online at the bottom of the "forum" page.

(Or click the link for "users online" at the bottom of that page and you can see where they are!)

A faster front page would be nice!

Thanks for the info, but I like things simple yet hate to complain too much as Mike has done a great job. In reference to the page loading slow, it may be that it has too many graphics/pictures and this is slowing it down?

The pictures are very small file size, and the site was slow before they were added. I just didnt have time beforew to make any changes.  The problem seems to be that there are too many "calls" to different programs for information (jobs, forum, etc).  I need give it less work to do, because it can't work any faster.

I'll see what I can do for you.  Specifically you want to know who is online, right?  I'll probably get rid of something else then.

Don't sweat it, you're doing a great job, thanks for understanding.

I reviewed the size/weight of the home page.  It seems that I have been adding many files lately, each one seems benign, but put them all together, and pow, you have a huge file.

I'll be working on speeding up the home page in the next few weeks.

   Update

I just got an email from my programmer.  He fixed all the littl programs running on the home page, it a VERY fast now.  I am so happy.
