Anyone working at LANL care to provide an update on the situation at the site?

I visited LANL after the last wild fire hit their area.  The picnic table outside my window was burnt.  I hope its not that bad this time.  A lot of homes were lost last time.

At 1500 MDT the town of Los Alamos is in process of mandatory evacuation.  The town of White Rock is not under mandatory evacuation order.  Both towns were partially evacuated Sunday evening under voluntary evacuation order/suggestion.

LANL was closed on Mon and will close again Tuesday for the event.   Website http://nmfireinfo.wordpress.com/ is reliable source and TV station KRQE has info.

From the LANL website (lanl.gov)

6/27/2011 15:25 - Los Alamos National Laboratory emergency officials have announced that the Lab will remain closed on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 because of risks presented by the Las Conchas wild fire and the staged, mandatory evacuation of the Los Alamos town site. A one-acre spot fire was reported in Water Canyon, within Technical Area 49, on the Lab’s southwestern boundary. Reports from the field say the fire has jumped to the north across New Mexico State Route 4. More details will follow as soon as they are available. The Lab is supporting Los Alamos County as it conducts a staged, mandatory evacuation of the town site. Los Alamos County residents should tune to 1610-AM for updated information. A Joint Information Center has been established at the Regional Development Corporation, 2209 Miguel Chavez Rd. in Santa Fe. Media should call 505-820-1226 for updates and monitor www.nmfireinfo.com for official fire updates.
