I just got extended an offer for an AO position which is a complete career change for me. I have been a construction superintendent for 7 years and decided to make the leap to an operator position. Any tips or advice from you senior/ experienced workers?

Soak up as much as you can during initial training. It will pay dividends during later training cycles plus if you decide to become a lic. operator it could make that easier. If you fully understand the concepts and functions behind all of the systems it will lay groundwork for later success.
