It is amazing to me that anyone with a brain thought for one second that setting off a nuclear weapon on the moon was a good idea.

Yes, I knew about that before and I get that it is an unusual use of nuclear weapons but we (and the rest of the nuclear world) set off a whole lot of underground nukes. But there is no good reason to send one to the moon just to see what would happen... or to scare people into thinking you are a very scary loose cannon. Just because you can...
