Title: Joe Kiman
Post by: DJ@Retired on Oct 21, 2012, 10:36
It's with great saddens I have very hard news about my best friend Joe Kiman. Joe pass away during a nap in a hotel room in Charleston WV. Benny he's brother was with him. So I'm happy to say he did not die alone. My level of saddens is off the charts. I can only image what his family is going though. Please join in me with a pray for the lord to welcome in to his loving arm's and for the great loss for his family. I'm pretty upset right now so of I do not make to much sense please forgive me. I have just lost my brother. The last words he said to me is he love me and my were the the same. I love you Joe. God Bless you.

Very sorry to hear. My favorite Joey story is at Pilgrim.  Norman criticized Joe's hair.  Joey cuts off the rat tail and nails it Normans desk.
RIP Joe,
LM

I was a technician at Dresden and Joe always drove a nice car and made good money and always had the good paying ALARA jobs.
I ask him one day, "How do you make it look so easy?"
He said "Its simple, in your pre-job briefs, tell em' to use a HEPA and keep it wet, and don't forget to bring in 3 dozen assorted donuts".
By God, every morning he came through that guard shack with 3 boxes of frickin Dunkin Donuts.
Loved the guy for 25 years, sad to see him depart.

What a suck. Joey was cool as hell. One of the best to come out of Newburyport. Haven't seen him in a long time but will never forget the times we hung out. Memories of Salem/wildwood NJ with Mahoney and Mitch Gerry. Unbelievable!! Now they're all gone. Everybody say a prayer for a good man with a great heart. He would do anything to help somebody. Good bye Joey. Will never forget you.

So sad to hear about Joe.  Hadn't seen him since his ALARA for Com Ed, but he was an old and true friend.  Just out of the Navy and wondering what civilians were like, I'm proud to say that Joe and Wild Bill were the first two friends I made in this industry.  Rest in peace in brother.

I am sad to hear of Joe's passing. He and Bill Mahoney made me what I am today. I remember all the good times we had at Arkansas and Millstone. Rest In Peace  and may God bless. Now I am tearing up. I know you are in a better place now.

On Behalf of Rick Cox:

I remember the days we had at Turkey Pt in '87 and at Conn Yankee in '84. I'll always remember the Home (Cedar Knoll) with Joe, Mahoney, Brad Brown, and Henry Black. Where has the time gone? Time and tide waits for no man.

Please tell Rick hello. Yes, where has the time gone. The "home " run by Bud and Sue was a home to many of us way back when. During the CY Decomissioning I rode by and cried when I saw it in despair.

How many games of Trivia Pursuit we all played! Not but a few of us left out of that bunch of kids.

In 1980 I was new to the road when I met Joe and Bill Mahoney at Millstone.   Among  other skills they taught me was the correct care and feeding of a rent-a-car, -fill the back seat with dead soldiers and fast food wrappers, drive the tires off, leave only fumes in the tank. But now they are both gone and we are all poorer for the loss.

Ellen Root “Joe’s sister” and I will be returning Joe back home on Sunday. I consider this a great honor to release my best friends remains to his boyhood home and also were his parent are laid to rest on Plum Island, Massachusetts. I believe in my heart that is one of the reasons I here in New Hampshire. Please take a moment to think about Joe. As for me I will not be saying goodbye, but till we meet again.
God Bless DJ

Man…I really loved Joe ! We shared many adventures working and rooming together. I think one of the funniest things that ever happened to us was when I stopped off in Albuquerque to see him for couple of days. We had been casino hopping, and were just about busted. Out of nowhere, he hits the jackpot on one of the slots for 18K. Right after they reset the machine, Joe gave me 20 dollars to put into it. As I did that some regular made fun of me, saying that it was stupid to put money into a machine that just hit the jackpot…..Funny thing happened…It hit for another 2k on the first spin. Which Joe let keep for myself.  At that point, we had to get a police escort to get us safely to our car. Lets just say the locales were not cheering for us!       I miss him !!!
