Dang'it Camella, now I have the HR Puffinstuff theme song stuck in my head.

Hey Hey, We're the monkeys....
.... We're too busy singing, to put anybody dow....
-
Another great show song.....
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship........

First season vs. remaining seasons:
Season 1: "The Movie Star, and the rest..."
Other Seasons: "The Movie Star, The Professor and, Maryann...
There was actually a big fight at the beginning of the first season with Bob Denver being outraged over Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells getting stiffed in the song and he almost quit until they told him not to (better to be employed and ignored.) They were originally supposed to be minor characters compared to the others. After the first season, the producers realized that all of the characters were necessary and had the song edited.
Ummm... I mean, no, Mike I didn't know that! :D
-
I like Neil Diamond too,....
go figure,..... 8)
How about Show Tunes... :o

D1G Prototype was in an episode of this show. It was a cameo shot from the air. It was supposed to be a secret hideout of a spy on the island.

Did you know I only watched because of Mary Ann?!?!?!.... ;)
She was the hot one.... ;)

Life was so much simplier then; sitting back and watching a big green dragon, a wacked out witch and a boy and his talking flute...
-
a boy and his talking flute...
That's just wrong on so many levels ;D
-
Good grief I went back and looked at this and well, no wonder some of us are so messed up!
-
I find myself watching.....
OMG...
"Keeping up with the Kardasians" :o
How sick am I? :(

Did you know that Penny Marshall tried out for the part of Whitchiepoo and was turned down? Probably a good thing for her career.
-
Did you know that there are 2 endings to that song?
Nope, didn't know. Now I will have to do some light internet surfing to find them........

I am proud to admit that I never once watched this show. The unfortunate part is the reason... I was already too old for that kind of show when it came out.
-
So Roger, you must be older than dirt? LOL... well if you didn't watch this, what did you watch... please share :)
-
So Roger, you must be older than dirt? LOL... well if you didn't watch this, what did you watch... please share :)
Not older than all dirt, just older than some.
I watched Rocky & Bullwinkle (before it became The Bullwinkle Show), Merrie Melodies Cartoons on various shows, Captain Kangaroo when I was very young, The Little Rascals, The Mickey Mouse Club, Bozo the Clown, Howdy Doody... I even remember watching Amos & Andy.
By the time HR Puffenstuff and the Banana Splits came along, I wasn't into that stuff (my younger sisters were) but I stayed faithful to Rocky and Bullwinkle and Bugs Bunny for many years.

I can verify that having attended some of the "Bugs and Brew" parties (early 80s I think) on Saturday mornings after night shift at the house he and others were renting.
-
This thread is dredging up all kinds of memories....... some not so good. Like having to watch Sonny and Cher, or worse Donny and Marie :o And I thought I had buried them somewhere soooooooo deep that they would never again haunt me LOL.

Winter/Spring 1979. Millstone. Good parties. Even started attracting some locals (attractive ones, too!)

If I remember right Black Point was a summer rental community for vacationers, but then I am surprised anyone at those parties remembers anything. ;) There was a St Patty's Day party that outage that just about wiped out the HP staff for the next day. If "the road" was like that again there would be more people wanting to travel (alas, fitness for duty prevails).

I can still remember waking up to the sound of the phone ringing and realizing immediately that it was dark outside which meant that nightshift had already started... and all four of us in the house were nightshifters. I heard Bob answer the phone, not with "Hello" but with "We'll be right there." If I remember correctly, over 90% of nightshift was either late or absent that night. We were told we couldn't have any more parties... which made for a great laugh at the Bugs 'n' Brew the following Saturday morning. (It was a force of nature. Even if we had cancelled it, the people would have shown up.)
-
You're gonna have to explain to me how this is a bad mamory,....
Clever pun, or Freudian slip?

I hate to admit this but,.....
I'm one of those kids you're mother told you that you did not want to be;
Remember? the ones who used to ride their bikes behind the mosquito truck and play blind bike tag in the billows of DDT fog?!?!?! :P

Our whole neighborhood used to line up to chase the fog truck... nobody knew any better back then.
Funny, most of my neighbors from back then are still alive. Those that passed succumbed to unrelated things...

The mosquito man, playing with mercury, crimping split shot lead sinkers with my teeth t, blowing up gi joe and my big jim action adventure set ( with tent and alligator) with firecrackers, and oh yea, cherry bombs and real m-80s. For less than a dollar you could by a small bomb. And the inevitable taste of leaded gas when siphoning. I'd probably be a lot smarter if it wasn't for the good ole days. Mercury has a distinct smell and is a lot of fun until you drop it in the dirt and cant recover it all. Aaaaaaah, the environment ,the environment!

A lot dimmer. Al Roker put it best when he said 'A little bit of my youth just died.'
I was 12 (and a big Beatles fan) when the show started -- perfect demographic.
Davey lived about twenty minutes from where I am right now.

Guys,
ULTRA MAN!!!!

I loved the Thunderbirds!
LM
-
I loved the Thunderbirds!
Here you go:
-
The Christmas episode where they made show on the tropical island was great.
LM
-
My favorite was 'Supercar', a black and white marionette puppet Jetsons-like show.
Complete with a super-cheesy theme song.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="el=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
-
No one will ever beat Tom and Jerry, and the Roadrunner show!!
-
Pinky and the Brain, I loved that show.
-
Fireball XL-5 was another favorite.
LM
-
Dark Shadows with Jonathan Frid playing Barnabas Collins.....
-
Pinky and the Brain, I loved that show
Why would you hate to admit this.....Remember the episode where Brain developed his own sovereignty in the south pacific and he was negotiating with Bill and Hillary.
Hillary: Before we recognize your country and negotiate for foreign aid.. would you be willing to store some High Level Radwaste for us?
Brain: And what would that be?
Hillary: Strontium-90 and Yttrium.
Brain: Done.
See.... the show had all our answers for High Rad Waste.

Soap Opera with fangs, the "Twilight" of it's day.
BZ are those DVDs locked in the "closet". [devious]
Rig for quiet, going deep.

A bunch of sub guys debating the "chick movie" rating of a vampire series....should we be concerned? :P

Technically I'm not doing that! I'm defending one of the finest pieces of Day time TV of all time. I literally used to run from school, get a big glass of Cherry kool aid and watch Barnabas from 4PM to PM. Then Ultra Man, then Johnny Socko and his flying robot.
-
then Johnny Socko and his flying robot.
the best Sokko episode...
-
Meanwhile us normal kids enjoyed....
-
We didn't get that on Chanel 43 or 61 in Northern Ohio. (I rather miss the days of having 3 channels on regular TV, plus the 2 UHF channels that showed great bizarre stuff!)
-
Dynagirl YES!! Ultraman YES!! Dark Shadows....ummmm, can you say twilight 1960s style? YUCK! Saw a few reruns never got into it. Tom and Jerry and the Roadrunner show were the best but that goes without saying, need to go deeper.
-

My little sisters were seriously into it when they were about 10 and 12 years old, too. I tried to watch it once and came to the same conclusion as HouseDad.
-
I was, am still and will always be a fan of The Monkees. I was never called by name on Romper Room as I have never met another soul who has my name :(
I loved Dark Shadows and was scared to death of Angelique!
I believe those of us born in the 40-60's ( me 1958 ) had the best of the best; music, tv, etc. SciFi just hasn't been the same since we landed on the moon...

I agree we had the best, but I think the point at which sci-fi slipped into the hog confinement was after the original Battlestar Galactica, aka Exodus in Space :)

As a kid, I used to think TBHQ was some sorta chemical preservative that made the stuff taste barbecue-like and not spoiling. Turns out it is used in fracking oil fields. We're better off just eating plain bacon cured in nothing but salt water and real sugar!

I was perusing an "Operator's Manual, Detroit Diesel Series 71 Three, Four, Six-Cylinder Marine Propulsion Units" at a garage sale this weekend,...
I caught myself humming a tune from 1986,...
a Berlin tune,...
It is a very cool manual, circa 1942(?) and includes the "Procedure for Installation of Dual-Fuel Engine Conversion Kits" plus a section on the 12 cylinder, dual-engine, dual-shaft, twin pack,...
I mentally hip-checked myself off the Berlin tune,...
I bought the manual, a good trade for 3 bucks, nothing like diesel specs to chase Berlin europop back into the dark shadowlands of forgotten nightmares,...
