Title: Don Ludlum
Post by: mack70 on Feb 26, 2015, 11:30
RIP Don Ludlum passed away last week

Amazing that he ran that company for so long, and the staff have been working there for ages, lots of Ludlums etc.. working there. I really like the products they make, its no nonsense solidly built stuff made and designed in the USA.

I wonder if the sons will end up selling the company to some big conglomerate. Will be interesting what happens in the next couple of years.

RIP Don!

Don started his own company with the attitude "tell me what you want, and we'll find a way to it"!  The other instrument company's (particularly Eberline) were starting (even then) to take the attitude "this is what you need" and wouldn't listen to what the customer wanted.

Don and his sales manager for many years (D.S.) were always customer oriented and easy to deal with.

He will be missed by those of us who knew him!

I met Don at his plant in TX. He gave me and two others a tour around and told storeys like how he started in his garage that's right down the street from the factory. He was a very nice and intelligent man just over seeing things walking around in his cardigan sweater. May he rest in peace.
