Title: Exelon interview
Post by: donrocky on Feb 04, 2016, 11:34
I have an upcoming interview with Exelon for Byron station in Chicago for Entry level Equipment operator. I received a call from the recruiter and hours later I got my hotel, flights and car rentals booked and sent to me. However, the email said nothing about a test and only stated a 1hr interview. Regardless I will be ready for any tests but I think since they just made mention of an interview, I might not be taking a test.

Also If anyone has interviewed with Exelon for the Equipment operator position, Please feel free to update me on what to expect on my interview next week. Thanks everyone for finding the time to help.

Tell me a time when your coworker was working unsafe and what did you do about it, what was the outcome, x 10.

Behavioral-Based Interviews are very common today.

Describe a situation in which you were able to use persuasion to successfully convince someone to see things your way.
Describe a time when you were faced with a stressful situation that demonstrated your coping skills.
Give me a specific example of a time when you used good judgment and logic in solving a problem.
Give me an example of a time when you set a goal and were able to meet or achieve it.
Tell me about a time when you had to use your presentation skills to influence someone’s opinion.
Give me a specific example of a time when you had to conform to a policy with which you did not agree.
Please discuss an important written document you were required to complete.
Tell me about a time when you had to go above and beyond the call of duty in order to get a job done.
Tell me about a time when you had too many things to do and you were required to prioritize your tasks.
Give me an example of a time when you had to make a split second decision.
What is your typical way of dealing with conflict? Give me an example.
Tell me about a time you were able to successfully deal with another person even when that individual may not have personally liked you (or vice versa).
Tell me about a difficult decision you’ve made in the last year.
Give me an example of a time when something you tried to accomplish and failed.
Give me an example of when you showed initiative and took the lead.
Tell me about a recent situation in which you had to deal with a very upset customer or co-worker.
Give me an example of a time when you motivated others.
Tell me about a time when you delegated a project effectively.
Give me an example of a time when you used your fact-finding skills to solve a problem.
Tell me about a time when you missed an obvious solution to a problem.
Describe a time when you anticipated potential problems and developed preventive measures.
Tell me about a time when you were forced to make an unpopular decision.
Please tell me about a time you had to fire a friend.
Describe a time when you set your sights too high (or too low).

A few tips that were passed onto me when I was interviewing.
Have failures in your examples, not all successes.
DO NOT LIE, these people for the most part are pros. Believe me they know when you are fibbing.
Keep your answers short. Don't drag on an answer as you may end up hanging yourself.
Go to Exelon's website and read their vision and values several times.

# 3 is a joke. They have no idea if you are lying in a personal story nor will it ever be checked.

Take as long as you need.

It is quite ok to use a non nuclear story.

1) Under your seat is a disassembled high powered rifle with an assembly manual written in Swahili.
In 5 minutes, a live Bengal Tiger will be admitted to the room.
Be prepared to justify your actions.

2) In the enclosed box, you'll find a razor, alcohol, a needle and dental floss.
Remove your appendix.
Have your work checked prior to suture.

I've interviewed with Exelon three times now and (sadly) didn't get the job. Most of the things on here are real, save the one about the swahili machinegun thingamijiggy... I think he was being sarcastic.

The only thing I'd warn you about is if  you don't get the position they won't call you to tell you. You'll just receive silence.

Good luck!

Yea, even applying for in house position, you often do not get a sorry you were not selected email. somewhat unprofessional in my opinion.
