Title: Radiation Safety Officer course (USN) questions
Post by: penguinman000 on Mar 01, 2015, 11:39

Greetings to all.  I couldn't find a forum to introduce myself, so if I need to introduce myself somewhere please point me in the right direction.  (also posted this in the wrong forum initially)

I've recently started a job as an Environmental and Safety guy for the Navy (retired and went into the private sector for a couple of years, now I'm GS).  This particular job has been gaped for a a few months so there was no turnover.  The command I'm at apparently has a requirement for an RSO, and that is me  Cheesy.  I'm attending the school (Radiation Safety Officer) in Yorktown, VA  next month and have been going over the material sent to me by the school house.

I have no real background in nuclear/radiation beyond CBRNE stuff,  but I'm not struggling too hard with the math in the syllabus sent me.  The school house has been great about answering questions but I always seek out additional knowledge when I can (God bless the internet!).  I was hoping someone here has attended this course in the past and could give me some scoop.  As it is I'm going in blind, so any knowledge you could share would be appreciated.

Thanks!
