Title: Chances of getting unescorted access
Post by: adg5151 on Apr 07, 2015, 09:09
So I just took a job as an engineer at a nuclear power plant. I am a little concerned about my ability of getting unescorted access. I currently have an active DOD secret clearance and work for a big name defense contractor as an engineer. I obtained that clearance in 2013 with all of the same criminal background that I submitted for UA. I am just worried that UA might be more strict than the DOD clearance. My credit is excellent and I disclosed everything on my PHQ.

Here are the charges that I faced:
1. Misdemeanor DUI (Expunged after a rehabilitative disposition) - Just about 5 years ago
2. Disorderly conduct summary citation (Guilty) - 6 years ago
3. Retail theft summary citation (Withdrawn) - 7 years ago

Can the two summary citations can even be considered? Do you guys think I stand a good chance with these blemishes? Thanks!

I think you stand a good chance. I was granted UA with a DUI, 2 battery convictions, and 1 resisting a peace officer.

Thanks for the reply. Did they question you about your offenses? Did you have to go onsite and provide paperwork with the DUI?

You may want to have all available supporting documentation available if they request.  Easier and quicker that way.

Yes, they question you about the offenses and require paperwork from the court stating the final disposition of each case, so start getting your paperwork in order.

I personally know a guy with a DUI on his record, and he still got hired on as an AO.  Honesty is the best policy in this case.

Thanks everyone. I got cleared today so hopefully anyone with a similar background can not worry as bad as I did. Just be honest!
