I've read this before!  You may have posted it from a different source.  I remember because I was sitting on the Texas coast as part of the take-over force and ready for action!

While I'm old enough to remember those happenings, the more important things in my life in 1962 revolved around getting Jean to go out with me and attempting to recover from being expelled from school.

Same here, hard to forget along with the Bay of Pigs and Kennedy's assasination all in a couple years time.
