Title: 3 Strike DUI Rule
Post by: jaygee1911 on May 03, 2016, 09:35
All,

I work in Procurement for a contractor (Fluor), and have been in this position for the last four years.  I'm considering accepting an offer at Plant Vogtle Westinghouse facility, but have what would be deemed a checkered past.

I am a recovering alcoholic, and have 3 DUI's (all older than 5 years).  I completed rehabilitation in 2011, and have been sober almost five years.  Of course, I have documentation for the treatment program I completed, as well as references to my sobriety.  Is the "3 strike" rule I saw above hard and fast?  Is there any allowance for time passed?  Many thanks for your replies.

Same situation different post. Best to only post once on said topic to avoid the wrath of the forum regulars.

I was about to delete the duplicate post but a public reminder is good too.  ;) +K

Gents,

Sorry for interrupting the decorum. LOL. The reason I revisited was because after my initial post, I saw the Security Issues FAQ sticky note in this forum created by Rennhack that indicated there was a "hard and fast" rule regarding three DUI's, see:

Individual has three (3) or more DUI arrests, resolved or unresolved:
Individual may not be eligible for unescorted access. Contact the appropriate Utility Security Reviewer prior to arriving on site to process.

Just wanted to provide the forum all applicable info.  Thanks for the reply!!!

I see. The answer still falls to the hands of the individual site's access screening procedures. As I stated in my reply to your other post. Procedures vary from site to site and you would be best to inquire with the people within your company that are familiar with the site requirements. It is important to them as it will be in their best interest to not send you out there if you are likely to be denied access.

Just wanted to update the thread.  I was approved, and report to the Site 13-Jun.  I'm appreciative of the advice contained herein, and am thankful for the forum, in general.
