So I know this has been a question multiple times on this site, but the last update I can see to it was 2012. I recently separated from the Navy as a Em Nuke. I want to get an Electrical Engineering Degree. Thomas Edison is willing to give me 62/120. That sounds amazing but I am wondering what personal opinions or experience with a completely online college like that. How much weight does a online degree have in the world and how easy is it to do online college?
My personal first thought of online college is unprofessional. Any info would be appreciated.

With twenty years of a productive professional career behind you then where your degree hails from isn't as important. When you are starting out and have no history to offer it becomes much more important. Go for the real deal.

Thomas Edison doesn't offer Electrical Engineering online. They offer Nuclear Engineering Technology, although they changed the name once it got ABET accreditation. If you want to do Engineering, ASU offers EE, and University of North Dakota offers EE, CE, ChE, ME, all online. Ultimately though, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to be an engineer, you need the engineering degree, as long as it's from an accredited school (preferably ABET) you should be good. If you just want the check in the box because the job requires a degree, then it doesn't really matter where it's from.
