Title: NukeWorker Softball Debut
Post by: Dave Warren on May 16, 2005, 04:01
(The Oak Ridge Chapter) NukeWorker.Com Softball Team debuts tonight at 9:00 PM, at the Clark Center. The team looks pretty solid this year and we would love to have some backing in the stands.

Big Daddy Dave Warren comes through with a big 2-run basehit in the bottom of the inning to secure a 18-17 victory. Nuke is now 1-0 in the Y-12 softball league.

Hey, thanks for the compliments, NBT. I have 8 Ex-Fernaldians playing on my team and we have a lot of fun out there. Just like the old days at Fernald. No beer and no huge crowds, but we make the best of it.

We are all happy we left the "F" word (Fernald, that is), but we still miss the after hours activities.

To all you Oak Ridge homebodies that never come to our Thursday night get-together's: Maybe you could come out and enjoy some softball and have a laugh and smile a little bit. We wouldn't mind seeing some of you shut-ins. You know who you are.

Dave,

I hope you play Softball better there, than you did at Fernald!!!!! haha
Did someone finally teach you how to hit the ball? No, I'm just kidding.
You was a good ball player, but the Ball Buster are still the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wished I could be there playing ball with you all, but I'm stuck at the Ferry.
Good Luck to the team and can't wait to see the PIX.

  Old Ball Buster from Fernald.....

 Hint, I played short stop!!!!!!!!

Hey, its all good. By the way, I was 4 for 4 and drove in the winning runs, so I guess I learned to hit. :)

Those were excellent pics, Mike. Thank you again for the sponsorship, and the shirts are totally rad.(Bad pun)

Our NukeWorker team lost 14-13 last night. Chad Replogle and Mark Jenkins both hit balls over the fence. We were a little gimped up and had players out of position last night, and still almost won. Our next game is June 6th at 9:00 PM.

We are 1-1 in the league with 8 games to play.

Last night, Chad Replogle and Mark Jenkins had home runs again, and the NukeWorker Crew was victorious 11-4.

Of course, I had a stellar performance on the mound, as usual.

We are 2-1 in the league and play again on 6-20.

Between the field being reconstructes and the holiday and the rain, we have not had a game since June 23rd.
We are scheduled to play tonight, but Hurricane Dennis is continuing to throw bands of rain into East Tennessee.
It looks like we will be playing on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for the next 2 weeks.
The playoffs will be in August some time.
So, we are in a holding pattern right now.

It has been 27 days since we played, and we are getting restless.
Rennhack took a team picture this week, but I don't think he has posted it yet.
We play tomorrow at 8:00, "weather permitting" of course.
We are still 3-1 and desperately waiting to play.
