Title: Dave Hickman
Post by: raymcginnis on Jun 26, 2009, 12:37
Dave suffered a cardiac arrest on June 12, 2009 and did not survive it.  He was a radiation protection engineer and technician at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Southern California.  He was never on the road, but many road NukeWorkers worked at the site through the years, so I posted this for those who knew him.

Here is the obituary from the Ventura County Star (edited).

David William Hickman was taken suddenly from his family on June 12, 2009. David was a devoted husband, father, step-father, and uncle to his family.

David was born in Pennsylvania on January 3, 1949. He served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1972. After leaving the Navy, David returned to Southern California and worked for Rockwell International (Rocketdyne/Boeing) for over 30 years. David met his wife in Simi Valley on August 21, 1998. After a whirlwind courtship, and an engagement after three months, they were married exactly one year after they met. They enjoyed many interests together, including wine tasting, trips to Central California, barbecuing, entertaining and especially trips to Morro Bay. David's hobbies included photography, barbecuing and cooking, taking his nephew to baseball practice and games, and spending time with his family.

David will be dearly missed by his wife, daughter, his son, his stepchildren, and his extended family.

A memorial service, attended by over 200 coworkers and friends, was held in Simi Valley on Thursday, June 18, 2009 and the graveside service was held on Friday, June 19, also in Simi Valley.
