Title: Site upgrade
Post by: Marlin on Apr 23, 2016, 03:01
Mike aquick tutorial on the upgrades would be nice it seems intuitive for the most part but there have been a few unexpected actions especially when I did a cut and paste. Yellow beige and white are not good colors for text on a white background.
Overall I am enjoying the changes.

Can we upgrade the emoji's too ???
The switches seem a little funky too. They did not show up in the initial dialogue box and then when I looked at it in Modify but made no changes the switches appeared in the post after I saved. Could be operator error.

I went to modify a second time and saved without changes and now the post reads right.

Anyway thanks for the effort Mike it is greatly appreciated.

What specifically do you need help with?

There is a remove formatting button  (https://www.nukeworker.com/forum/Themes/NukeWorker20/images/bbc/unformat.gif)
There is also a Toggle view button, that toggles between BBC markup code, and the display version. (https://www.nukeworker.com/forum/Themes/NukeWorker20/images/bbc/toggle.gif)

The WYSIWYG editor (what you see is what you get) is an option.  It remembers formatting when you copy and paste just like Microsoft Word does.  If you don't like it, I believe you can turn it off in profile options.

Eventually I will Nuke it all out so nothing specific as I said most of it is intuitive. A few of the buttons are new or have a new look.

The forum is now 'kinda' responsive, as is the photo gallery.

Responsive  means it responds to the screen size, which means it's more mobile friendly.

I like that the text entry boxes are resizable!  Grab a corner, or the bottom.

The view is different.  When I was reading before I could see how many users were on line, who, etc.  Now I can only see that I'm on line.  [SadPanda]

That info is still available from the bottom of the forum index. https://www.nukeworker.com/forum/index.php

Let me know if after a week you still want it back.  I'll consider looking for a solution.
I removed the side bar, because it was too much wasted space, the was not mobile friendly.  The part I miss is the big red text when I have a new private message.

Mike I did a quote and it sent me to Quick reply. Not a big problem but that does not offer any publishing actions.

Please define Publishing Actions.  You SHOULD have "Post, Preview, Spell Check" button below the quick reply form.  If you hit preview, it takes you to the normal post form.

Font editing, emoji's etc

Yeah, those are not on the Quick-Reply box.  To get those, click on "Preview", to get the full form, or click on the 'reply' button.

The quick reply box is designed for no formatting, quick one or two liners.  If it starts to get longer than that, hit the 'preview' button to get the rest of the controls. -- At least, that's what I do.

So... I just tried to add more questions to the quiz database... and that's broken.   Guess what I will be working on every night this week. :(

After doing some tests, and fixing a few things, I've determined that it's not completely broken.  It just does not like apostrophes or single quotes.

Yes.  If its supper super important, i may be able to go into a backup database, figure out how to export it, and then figure out how to import it... But at the moment, I feel that restoring the functionality to the facility info section is a higher priority.

Mike I don't see editing switches in the dialogue box or modify box, this makes it harder to fix errors or to publish a comment. What I mean is that when you edit your post such as bold or font size the switches no longer show up.

There is a button for that.  It is labeled "Toggle View" and looks like this: (https://www.nukeworker.com/forum/Themes/NukeWorker20/images/bbc/toggle.gif), it is at the end of the row of buttons, next to the "Remove Formatting" Button. (https://www.nukeworker.com/forum/Themes/NukeWorker20/images/bbc/unformat.gif)
