Title: ? Shaw and their Tax Practices
Post by: forgranted on Feb 29, 2012, 06:11
Did any body else get a W-2 from Shaw That shows you made more money than you were paid?

They also added travel and Per-diem to line 1 with no explanations.

The Company (Shaw) when contacted routes you to a recording. I have left messages every two weeks hoping to one day receive a revised W-2.

Every two weeks?  I'd be leaving them a message every hour of every day - weekends included - if that was my W-2.

First off, I haven't worked for Shaw and secondly, I do not want to hijack this thread.  That said, I have worked for companies that have reported earnings in a similar manner.  C-E was one that comes to mind easily, there was more.  Anyway, on the W-2 there was always another line of earnings that would get deducted from the gross earnings on the 1040.  That way, the company was dodging accounting headaches of per diem et al, and the employee taxable earning did not include the expenses.  Hope you have a line on your W-2 like that.  Otherwise, pay the bucks to a professional and get your taxes done by someone who knows all the methods to maximize your return.
