Hey gang I just wanted to let you know that I am my family are facing a hard couple of months... I have been sick for months now and found out last week I have colon polyps. The removed all but one and I met with the surgeon today and this is what we know:
1. A large percentage of the type of polyp (and where it is located) that I have contain cancer cells, so they treat it as cancer from the start.
2. They will be removing the majority of my ascending colon, along with the lymp nodes located nearby and all the blood vessels leading to this area and then they will be reconnecting my insides together (oh what fun).
3. I will be in hospital from 4 to 7 days and at home recovering 6 to 8 weeks.
4. There are chances of other things but I won't bore you with what if's or maybes.
Please be patient with us as we make this adjustment and lend your moral support when you can. I intend to be spending a good deal of time on here as I won't be able to do much else.
My surgery is on September 16th at 11:00 am, so if you have a second on that day please send out good thoughts and prayers ifyou believe in such. I am a huge believer in the power of prayer, karma and good thoughts and will take them all.

You have my prayers and thoughts, please keep us posted. I know Henry does not normally post a lot but maybe he can make an exception for the next few weeks.

You will certainly have all of our good thoughts, best wishes, prayers, and maybe a Buddhist chant or two.
My sister recently (about two years ago) had what sounds like the same surgery, and she is about 100% and feeling fine. You can do the same. 90% of the success of this kind of thing is attitude. Keep yours positive and all will be well.

I will pm you something to make you smile.A Small story more about you than Henry when he and I worked in outside facilities at srs. All the credit is yours. Keep the faith. Joe

I just wanted to let everyone know that Camella is out of surgery and is doing good. She is asleep now and snoring so the morphine must be working. She was in surgery for about 4 hours or so. Her Doctor said she will be ok. We won't know if it is cancer until the lab work is done next week. I will keep everyone updated as we get info. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. Henry

Camella,
Glad to read that you came through the surgery fine. We'll keep thinking those "happy thoughts" for you.

Camella wanted me to say thank you to everyone that remembered her in your prayers. She is doing better everyday. She still has a couple of months before she is back to normal, or as close to normal as she will ever be. Keep remembering her in your prayers. We can't thank everyone enough for all that you have done already. Stay safe and i will try to keep all informed of her progress.
-
Henry,
Tell Camella to concentrate on getting better and we'll look forward to her return. Thanks for keeping us updated.

How are things?
-
I am doing good. Learned what I can and cannot eat and I still have terrible back pain at times but found out that this is quite common with colon resectioning.
I am enjoying life, traveling more with Henry and spoiling the grandchildren. Thanks for asking.

Keep up the good work and attitude. My wife went through the same thing several years ago and still has good days and bad days. The bad days usually come from trying to do too much or eating the wrong things (which she loves).
The surgeon told us that most folks in that situation: 15% are back within a year for removal/another resection, 15% never have anothere problem, and the other 70% are somewhere in between. At this point for us her "Gastro is saying, 'You need to go to Vandy', you are past my expertice!"
Best of luck and remember our prayers are with you

Thanks for the well wishes. I am glad to know that people care. And I encourage everyone to have preventive testing done for not only Colon Cancer but other medical conditions as well. My surgeon told us that had I waited mere months we would have been facing a different story as my polyp had already turned into stage 2 Dysplasia (which is between benign and cancer).
-
You and your family have my prayers. I sincerely hope all goes successfully and you are soon on the road to recovery.
-
Just an update to say I had a checkup this week of my colon and no signs of polyps or cancer so I'm good to go for 3 years unless I have further problems.
-
That's the kind of news I love to hear! (Though I'm sure not as much as you do. ;)) Have a great weekend young lady!

Good to hear!

Glad to hear this, how are you feeling? As good as your checkup?
