All-clear for six US nuclear-power reactors in coastal Andhra Pradesh
Written by Anil Sasi |New Delhi |Updated: March 15, 2019 7:05:55 am

With the United States and India agreeing to set up six American nuclear power reactors in India, the decks have been cleared for Westinghouse Electric (WEC), which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last August, to initiate the sale of six AP-1000 reactors for a proposed project in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Doesn't a Canadian company own Westinghouse?....kinda like the U.S. though...

It's a little fuzzy as they are traded in Toronto and New York but Wikipedia describes it as an American Company (capital A North America?). The agreement to build six US reactors is between the US and India. Westinghouse facilities are here in the US for the most part. Sometimes hard to untangle these international companies but the guts of Westinghouse is here in the US.

Isn't Babcock & Wilcox still in the reactor game?   https://nuclearstreet.com/nuclear-power-plants/w/nuclear_power_plants/babcock-wilcox-mpower-reactor

Yeah that sounds right I pretty much call them American....or Canadian/American.  hard to find large companies that are affiliated with just one country anymore.

Why can't Westinghouse complete the mess at V.C. Summer? Their bankruptcy played into the failure there, even though SCANNA was ultimately responsible.

They seem to be back seat drivers at this point.

Construction of Vogtle units 3 and 4 began in 2013 and the AP1000 units - the first new nuclear units to be built in the USA in over 30 years - are scheduled to enter service in November 2021 and November 2022. Following reactor vendor Westinghouse's March 2017 bankruptcy filing, the owners decided to continue with the project, with work proceeding under the project management of Southern Nuclear. Daily construction is managed by Bechtel.
