Officials in nearby towns are hoping the shutdown happens sooner rather than later so the 240-acre site can be opened up to development and they can recoup the millions of dollars in property tax revenues that will be lost. The village of Buchanan, the Town of Cortlandt and the Hendrick Hudson School district stand to lose a combined $32 million in annual tax revenues.
The area will never recover the lost taxes.  But that's what you get for closing the most profitable nuclear plant in the country.

The Trump Administration has called for reopening the licensing process to designate Yucca Mountain north of Las Vegas as the underground repository for the nation’s nuclear waste. Earlier efforts to designate the site stalled amid opposition from the Obama Administration.
All you had to do is tell him that Obama was against it.

In January, Indian Point workers authorized a strike by their union. Among the sticking points was whether workers would have a role in the plant's decommissioning.
THAT is how you convince some one to keep you employed... go on strike.

The proposed buyer is not an operator it is a decommissioning company.

some do, it's more entertaining that way,....

The Inveterate 12 Step Program

1. Acquire a 1 litre bottle of unflavoured, standard vodka, pour out 1/2 cup of vodka from the bottle, drink it (the 1/2 cup).

2. Place a funnel into the neck of the vodka bottle.

3. Ease 1/4 cup of mint or lavender flowers or juniper berries or pepper corns (or whatever floats your boat) through the funnel into the bottle of vodka.

4. Remove the funnel and reseal the bottle.

5. Shake the bottle until the added flavoring(s) have mixed throughout the vodka.

6. Store the vodka bottle in your freezer for up to 4 days to allow the flavoring(s) to infuse into the spirit.

7. Put a fine mesh strainer over a jar large enough to hold the entire contents of the bottle.

8. Line the strainer either with cheesecloth (paper towels or coffee filters may impart a less than palatable taste).

9. Strain the contents of the vodka bottle into your container.

10. Squeeze the strained flavoring with your hands to extract as much moisture as you can.

11. Pour the strained contents back into your vodka bottle. You may want to use your funnel to make this step easier.

12. Seal the bottle and keep it stored in your freezer until you're ready to use it.

Well that is sort of back on the topic of paying for decommissioning as it will demolish the liver.  :P

In a post nuclear world, instead of flavoring vodka (why do people drink vodka? - tastes like bad water...), another beverage comes to mind. The old "rock and rye" - a decanter of high rye whiskey with a few swizzlesticks of rock candy in it, sweetening the whiskey. I believe it's a southern thing...
Now, with soon to be no more FFD for me, i was wondering if a couple of fat sticky buds in the decanter would be even more rewarding? Perhaps I will perform an experiment in the near future, and see how that goes. Perhaps the results will inspire me to post about it. Perhaps it will inspire me to order a pizza. Dunno....

I would refer your reefer query to a recipe for making a tincture. You need a high proof alcohol for that.
Should you reside in a grow/recreational state, there is an excellent experiment, of which I read a long long time ago, that involved growing hops with a THC content and brewing ales with them.
Have a pleasant retirement.
