Title: mental health issues
Post by: blackballedsnake on May 02, 2007, 02:08
I need some direct, and to the point answers...PLEASE! ;D Question #1- IF an individual was wrongfully AND involuntarily commited to a mental health facility, what are this person's chances of getting unescorted access to a nuclear facility in the future?? ::) ;D Question #2- IF the wrongful commitment of said person is REVERSED by legal means with all records permanently expunged AND a formal apology from the facilty involved, will this "person" have any problems in getting badged at a plant? >:( :-\ I hope that some of "yinz" out there have a serious response to this matter!! 8) ;)

Snake, you need a job or something. You don't need to worry about stuff like that.

this should give you an idea on HIPAA laws and how they work concerning your privacy when it comes to mental health issues.

It varies by employer but if youve had it expunged and there was no real reason for being in the facility then I dont see why it should hold up your clearance.  To get the best answers on security issues for a specific company is to go ahead and call their security department and see what they say.  Mental health issues unless it was a complete psychotic break are no where near as bad as say a DUI or a felony especially if you can pass an MMPI.

I agree with JenJen get in touch with the Security Group at the facility that you will be working with and disclose the facts of the matter with them and they can give you all the answers.  Depending on the plant and the last time you took the MMPI they may require another test and a possible mandatory psyc eval.  Again this is just a maybe.

Good luck on your endeavors.
