I've been looking for "The Reactor Manual". My impression was that this was a 2-volume set. However, a look at Amazon.com shows me many, many reactor manuals, for example, one on zirconium, and, yes, one on Star Trek's antimatter reactor. (Riiiight -- just what I was looking for.)
Help? What would be a good set of books to help me get spun up on reactor theory?
This looks like one of those questions that "everyone knows" except the new guy...
Many thanks,
Dave
Not sure what level "spun up" indicates, but the 2 volume reactor enigneering text by Glasstone & Sesonske is probably the best general nuclear core/plant design book out there. Additionally, Duderstadt and Lamarsh each have a very good reactor theory book, though at a much higher level.
I agree with the above. Search for glasstone. I have copies of these books and although dated, the data is just as relevant today as it was 50 years ago. Very good stuff and often considered THE reference.
