From the San Luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune:
Ronald Cardwell, 53, of Oceano died Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Arrangements are under the direction of Lady Family Mortuary and Crematory in Arroyo Grande.
He was always upbeat and energetic. I only met him a couple years ago, but he was a joy to know. He had been working as a permanent employee at Diablo Canyon. I last saw him two months ago. He seemed well. I'm sorry I don't have anymore details.
Ron was one of the friendliest guys you could ever know. Always smiling and always a kind word. This is such a shame, the world could use more like Ron.
My condolences to the family.
I didn't know Ron, but he made someone I know happy, and that's worth a lot.
R - you're in my prayers...
Ron's sunny disposition, great sense of humor, contagious smile and laughter will be sorely missed. His wife and family are in my prayers.

I've put off posting here due mostly to the shock of his passing, I considered
Ron a very good friend and only wish I could have done something....I will
surely miss his humor and little quips that always brightened my day...
Words cannot express my sorrow for Renee and Ron's sons...They say time
heals all wounds and I hope it is so. I still get choked up just thinking
about him months later.
I hope you have found peace...
