Title: ASVAB practice
Post by: lostinquestions on Aug 16, 2009, 11:14
So here's a link to a screenshot of a practice test I took. http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8499/asvab.png I obviously bombed the Auto, MC, and Electronics sections. This fall I'll be a freshman @ college and will hopefully be taking Calculus Based Physics, which might help me with those sections. However, based on what I saw on about.com, none of those are important for qualifying for NUPOC anyway. Also, I can't seem to find how to get the raw scores.

So I turn to y'all: are these scores good enough? I keep trying to get a hold of a recruiter to discuss some stuff with him, including this, but he's not returning my calls... really frustrating.

1. Keep practicing, a good nuke strives for perfection!
2. Seeing as how it is August, the recruiting district may be low on funds and/or doesn't need more nuke recruits just yet.
3. Good luck!

That looks like the practice test on military.com. I took my ASVAB a couple months ago at MEPS, after having done all three practice tests on military.com.

Keep in mind that those results are how many questions you got right out of all of the questions. This isn't the same way that the ASVAB is graded, which is on a percentile scale. Personally, I ended up getting mostly mid-80's, with a couple 70's and 90's on the practice test sections, but got a 99 on the ASVAB. The ASVAB was much easier than that test, especially on the math sections.

Keep studying, and do your best on that test. Because of my score, they got me straight into the Nuke program, and got me a early ship date. I depped in in August, and I'm shipping out at the end of October.

Good luck!

Not bad!

I found the military.com test FAR more difficult than the asvab. ALSO there are a couple physics questions which they register the wrong answer!

I would go get a couple books from the library and study up on your problem stuff especially mech and elec.

Doing more practice test will help out the math, be sure not to cheat with a calculator and it wont hurt to actually time yourself. The books also have object orientation (though i don't know if that factors in for nukes or not)

Good luck!

Online practice tests are scams. To make you think you did bad to buy their sponsored study books. Tisk - Tisk

You might also consider that the ASVAB is a generalized vocational aptitude test.  While we could debate for months the value of standardized tests, take into account the idea that studying to retake the exam might get you accepted into the program only to find out that you've bitten off more than you can chew.

If you're coming right out of high school it might be best to just take the ASVAB and roll right into one of the jobs they immediately offer.  If you've been out of a class room setting for a while and need to kick off some cobwebs it's sort of a different story.  Go ahead and identify your deficiencies, brush off the dust and give it another shot.

McGraw Hill's practice book really helped me to get my 98
I strongly advise reading all of the texts and taking all of the tests for best results
