Title: MEPS Medical Interview Questions
Post by: Styrofoam on Dec 08, 2010, 02:06
I know I'm supposed to tell the truth and I'm fully aware of the side effects of not telling the truth (discharge, jail time, fine). I just want to say that up front to hopefully filter out some of the lecturing I'm sure I'll receive due to this post. :)

Anyway, while my recruiter and the Recruiter-In-Charge were performing their obligatory "MEPS' Job is to Disqualify You" scare tactics, the RIC said they would ask me if I had ever been in a car accident, among other questions. Now, I don't intend to lie, but it got me wondering what other questions they'll ask. While I was able to find this (http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/infomgt/forms/eforms/dd2807-1.pdf (http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/infomgt/forms/eforms/dd2807-1.pdf)), it doesn't ask if I've been in a car accident, so I don't think it's what I'm looking for.

Is it that the MEPS doctors make up questions on the fly to try to spot discrepancies in your medical forms?

Also, your thoughts on this, please:
The RIC said if I say yes to having been in a car accident, the doctors will assume I was knocked unconscious and they'll make me get a head scan. That seems pretty far fetched to me.

Let me preface this post by saying I, personally, think you're an idiot if you go into MEPS with the mindset to lie.

That being said, my doctor hardly asked me anything during my physical, or maybe I was just in a haze from being at MEPS all day (was one of the last to get their physical before the duck walk) that I can't remember. They don't really press you too hard if you say "no" to any of the questions, though, I do remember that (for instance, I have a scar on my spine from a cut when I was a child that looks like a surgical scar, the MEPS doctors asked me ONCE if I had back surgery, I said "no, I cut my back when I was a child" and they took my word for it).

Best of luck, I hope everything works out for you, but there's really no reason to lie. If everything's alright with you now, why not just tell the truth?

I went to MEPS last July. I'm sure it is situational on how thorough you're specific doctor is there. But they just asked me if I've ever smoked weed about 30 times. Other than that i had already provided them with the broken bone and ankle sprain.

Don't lie, just don't... You'll probably get away with it if you do. But if you don't, chances are you've just screwed yourself. REALLY don't lie if its just because your recruiter doesn't want to do a bit of extra paperwork and drive to your local clinic or something petty. It is your career.

Thanks for the reply's guys and thanks for the amusing story, Marssim. I guess there's not much else to do except study for the ASVAB and fret. :)
