Hello,
i am working since 20 years in a nuclear power plant in germany. I think you know that the german Government shut down 8 from 17 Powerstations now, the next 11 till 2022. I'm working at nuclear power plant with two units and Unit one was shut down suddenly at March 2011, although the government tell us it can work to 2018.
Now i made a registration for an Green Card for work and live in the USA. I spend lot of holydays there, i love the States.
I was working on CNC Turning and Milling machines, i make the CNC Programm, working at a Flat grinding machine, i'm calibrate our measuring equipment, can work with 3 D Faro Mesuring Arm. I am familiar with machining operations at valves and sealing seats on site in the plant.
Besides I have a continuing education for technical Master .
I'm 45 Years old, married with two sons. Do you think i have a possibility to get a job in a nuclear power plant at the states ?
Regards to all Nukeworkers

I can't answer your question, I just wanted to show some sympathy and support for your government pulling the rug out from under you. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here and will most happily answer your questions as best they can.
Good luck and welcome to nukeworker!

Don't limit yourself to nuclear to get here - look for work for CNC machinists. Once here, and working, changing jobs to nuclear might be easier.
I keep hearing the machinists where I work say there are openings for CNC machinists in general industry, what there is left in teh states.
Good luck
