The contamination at Treasure Island is from weapons testing not the Nuclear propulsion Program.

I stand corrected, I had an errant memory that there was a nuclear propulsion support facility at Treasure Island.
Navy non-nuclear power and non-medical/dental radiation is under the jurisdiction of the Radiological Affairs Support Office--NAVSEA 04.
Most of the radiation was from radium use, but they must also clean up any Cs-137 or Sr-90 even from Chernobyl or weapons testing if it exceeds the limits, which in Cali means any radium more than 1pci/g >bkg and Cs-137 more than .11pci/g >bkd (not a missprint).

From what I have heard they had some of the ships that were staged during the bikini atoll weapons test that did not sink docked there for use in training. That might be a good source for cesium.

I am not sure if there were any ships from the bikini atoll testing at Treasure Island, or not. Very well could have been though. I was the Lead HP supervisor at Hunters Point shipyard from 2003-2005, and was involved with the site historical assessment for Hunters Point. I do know that there are records of some of the ships being decontaminated there, at Hunters Point. Treasure Island is right around the corner, so it is very possible. Also, Hunters Point was at one time the a main hub for the Navy's nuclear research. Various animal testing..ect. There was also a lot of research done at Hunters Point on various samples from nuke testing in the desert, which could have carried over to treasure Island. Aside from loads of radium, from dials, paint booths..ect. Honestly, who really knows what all they did in those bay area naval bases......The navy / RASO is very good at not having a record of something, until you just happen to run across some sort of an anomaly, then they all of the sudden remember and have some process knowledge , or actual records.
