Worked an outage there in the 80's where the lake blew up on the southern shore of lake Erie and the flooding surrounded the plant. We slept in the emergency berthing until the flooding subsided and we could go home. There was a bikers bar we ate at frequently the waitress recognized us and would great us with "pizza with everything, no dead fishy's?". I always appreciated that kind of service on the road and saw it in many places one way or another. I miss that about the road but too old and BossLady has a house job at a DOE site so retirement and memories are good now.
well he11, that aint a bad deal either..I'll probably do at least 1 or 2 outages a year until I can't...

Ohio legislators wrangle over nuke subsidy bill as FES misses fuel supply targetPUBLISHED July 2, 2019

so, is Ohio 24 days and 52 million dollars too late?!?!?!
OR,....
is there compensation to D-B for fuel expedite costs above the 52 million?!?!?
plus the obligatory "pass through handling fees" (at 15%),....
care to guess how much 15% of the 13 million expedite fee might be,....
that's enough bonus to buy somebody a nice house on Lake Erie,....yeah I know, I'm getting all snarky,....
so, really now, is the subsidy gonna be used to prop up Perry whilst FES still drops D-B?!?!?!?
hmmmmmm,.... :-\
The writer had to cringe and hold their nose as they typed "Ohio's clean energy bill", that includes coal getting alternative funding. If that's what it takes... ::)
Ohio's nuke and coal subsidies will likely be challenged at the ballot

This is not a victory for nuclear. This was a play on nuclear to promote agendas perhaps not on the up and up toward promotion of the cause. Sad.

what's "the cause"?!?
I guess the cause would be a longer term stay of execution for the Ohio plants without so much cash continuing to go to the sun burners.

ah okay,....
in some respects we (the USA) are really hosed up,....
we burn food as fuel (corn to ethanol) made viable by subsidies,...
we push electrons with wind, solar and geo-thermal, again made viable by subsidies,....
we take our most abundant, self-sourced, contemporary technology transport fuel (natural gas) and we push electrons down the grid with it,...
the better options for pushing electrons down the grid (nuclear, coal, hydro) are either not politically correct (coal) or regulated to obsolescence (nuclear, hydro),....
and then people whine about their electric bills and rolling brownouts/blackouts,...
Wow, subsidies for solar & wind. Then subsidies for nuclear. And now subsidies for coal. Are we moving towards socialized energy? This was passed by the conservatives who rant against socialism. I may be confused, but I'm still grateful that when I get up in the morning, I have electricity, running water, and propane. I won't whine about the cost I pay. I don't think Marty is eating the lawyers and politicians fast enough.
Should have expected this but probably not the publicity they wanted with the bailout still in doubt with a potential ballot challenge.
Think tank: Nuclear plants' bankrupt owner spent heavily for bailout
