For my  Navy friends while noting number three on the list The word "pile" was used in the first few years of the atomic age and gradually gave way to "reactor" to identify the key device that controls the nuclear fission reaction. Admiral Rickover started his nuclear career in Oak Ridge on the Graphite Reactor earning a Doctorate of Pile Engineering or a DOPE degree.
