We (Tennessee) already have a good start with the Watts Barr and Sequoyah commercial nuclear power plants. DOE and TVA are planning a Small Modular reactor on the old Clinch River nuclear site. X-energy's TRISO-X has broken ground in Oak Ridge to produce High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuel for new advanced reactors. Kairos Power plans the Hermes demonstration reactor at Oak Ridge in the old K-25 site. Oak Ridge National Laboratories have operated reactors including the High Flux Isotope Reactor and is currently involved in nuclear research. Y‑12 (also on the DOE Oak Ridge Reservation) has supplied the U.S. Navy feedstock from weapons removed from the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile to fuel nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers.
