I have been following this for a while. I worked on a proposal for the Mallinckrodt site for a cleanup of a building and the soil under it (more than a decade ago). The cancer rate in the area is not elevated. The samples in the school from Missouri and the Army corp. of engineer's state that the levels of radioactive material in the school are not significant. Ground water in the area of Weldon Springs is contaminated.

well then it's probably more sleazy, "go after the deep pockets" litigation.  You can see they just want to give them something (like Piketon) to close it out, rather than deal with the court/lawyer fees.  As long as frivolous lawsuits still pay out something (almost all to the lawyers who advertise for their business/cases), they'll continue.

This area is 5 miles from one of the highest crime rate areas in the USA. The Quality Factor of a 9mm bullet is much higher than a helium nucleus.
